Baby James

We got to go see our new nephew James Bankhead today. He is really darling. I got to hold him for a long time and he is really sweet. He is a little jandiced right now so he looks a little orange, but I'm sure that will clear up in no time. Kurt and Lindy both seem really happy to finally have him here. Lindy looks great although a little tired. Misty is staying with her right now and I'm sure she will make sure that Lindy gets lots of rest. Congratulations on another darling little boy!

Calf Creek

All of our blog readers are going to start thinking that Jason is all play and no work. He does work most of the time but he sure has been having a lot of fun too. He just got back from a weekend trip to Calf Creek in Southern Utah. He and our friend Wes left Thursday morning and drove down to Calf Creek for some serious fly fishing. Based on the report that I got from Jason when he got home they had a great time. Jason said that they camped in a beautiful little sandy spot. It had a stone overhang which had moss growing on it due to the water leaching through the rock. They spent half of Thursday and all day Friday fishing for Colorado Westslope Cutthroat trout (If you know what that is you must be a fly fisherman). Jason tells me that these are the only native Cutthroat trout in Utah. The fish are a light brown to blend in with the sandy river bottom.
On Friday night a pesky Raven broke into Wes and Jason's packs and stole the rest of their food except for one package of rice and a cup o' noodles. So they had to make due with a meager dinner.
They hiked out on Saturday morning and rushed home to their waiting wives and children. Home just in time for Mother's Day.

Cinco De Mayo

My friend Angela's birthday is the day after Cinco de Mayo. So this year I decided to throw a Cinco de Mayo birthday party for her. Mexican has never been one of my favorite foods but it is something Angela loves so I went with the whole Cinco de Mayo theme and made Mom's yummy carnitas. We had 5 other families over to celebrate with us and we all had a great time. The kids just ran around the yard or jumped on the trampoline (I think at one point there were about 20 of them jumping at once.) With that many kids someone was always crying, as I'm sure you can imagine. But we all had a great time and it was fun to pay special attention to Angela. She turned 28again. It is funny how so many people seem to be stuck at 28 years old.

The birthday girl.

The birthday cake.

Here is Hallie jumping on the trampoline. She decided half way through the party to go topless.

Here are some of the guys just sitting back and relaxing.

All the kids wanted to jump at the same time.

Just a few photos

I took a couple of pictures of my kids the other day and just wanted to post them for the Grandparents and aunts and uncles to see.

Slide Thrills

We let the kids play at the park for a little while after we had fed the ducks. There was a slide there that was really fast. Hallie almost went flying off the end the first time she went down. Their faces as the kids went down were shear terror, and yet they kept wanting to go down again and again.

Duck Pond

Tonight we went over to the Midway duck pond to feed the ducks. We were kind of lacking in bread so the ducks got a snack of frozen waffles and an old hamburger bun. Sage and Hallie both had a wonderful time trowing bits of waffle to the ducks. It is so fun now that the evenings are warming up that we can go out and do things with the kids.

More Soccer Spectacular

Here are a few pictures from Sage's most recent soccer game. It was once again a real winner. This time Sage had absolutely no interest in even playing the game. She spent most of the game sitting on a blanket and talking with some strangers. She played about 5 minutes of the game in which she stood in the goal, she told us that she was the goalie. It was a beautiful day at least. For Sage the best part of the game was the snack at the end. I don't know if we have a real soccer player on our hands but we sure do enjoy watching her. She is as always quite the comic relief.
