Scrapbooking Photos

Poor Sage, whenever I need photos to go with a particular scrapbooking paper she has to get dressed up and have a photo shoot. She wasn't too sad about having to take these photos though because I told her she didn't have to take a nap if she would help me out. So she was quite willing. When I look at these picture I just can't believe how old she is looking. She is getting so grown up.

Japanese Pajamas

We got a note to pick up a box at the post office the other day and were surprised to see that it had come all the way from Japan. It was a box from a family that Jason had baptised while he was on his mission. Jason and Sage had gone to dinner with them earlier this summer as they were here in Utah picking up their son from a mission. Anyway, inside the box were a pair of Japanese pajamas for both of our girls. They were so excited they stripped down as soon as we opened the box and put them on. They have wanted to wear them just about every night since then. Sage is especially excited about them because she says that now that she has a Japanese outfit she will be really good at Kung Fu.

A Day on the Lake

Jason and his brother Jeff had the good idea to rent a boat and go out on Deer Creek Reservoir last week. There were a million boats on the lake and the water was really choppy so about all it was good for was some tubing. Jason took both of our girls out on the tube. When he took Sage he lost his balance and fell off into the lake. We looked back a few seconds latter to see Jason floating in the water a ways back and Sage just crying her eyes out and holding on to the tube for dear life.


We quickly pulled her in and then went back to pick up Jason. By the time Sage got into the boat she had worked herself into such a upset that she had made her nose bleed and had blood running down her face. Poor little thing thought that her Dad was lost forever and that we were just going to leave him there in the lake. She got over it pretty quickly though once we picked up Jason and she saw that it was just fine.


It was Hallie's turn next and she was quite unsure of it. But we just threw her in the tube and by the time they got going she was having a great time.
It was a fun day and nice to be out on the lake with the kids. They loved it, despite a few moments of tears.

The Reception

Clay had his wedding reception at a beautiful farm in Mapleton. It was a very nice and peaceful location. There was a pond with canoes and paddle boats on it and that provided limitless entertainment for the kids.





Zahra made their wedding cake with my help. She did a beautiful job.

Here is a picture of Clay and Aria cutting the cake. It was a yummy cake. It was pistachio cake with marzipan frosting.

Clay and Aria's Wedding Day

After our Oregon trip we had another chance to visit with all of my extended family at my cousin Clay's wedding. Clayton is my closest boy cousin and we are so excited for him. The girl that he married is really neat and they are very cute together.

Clay and Aria got married in the Salt Lake Temple on August 8th. It was a rainy day which was kind of nice instead of the summer heat.

The kids had fun running around the temple grounds while we were waiting for clay and Aria to exit the temple.

No one is happier about Clay and Aria getting married than Sage. She is really quite obsessed with Aria and Aria is very sweet to tolerate it. Sage hardly left her side the entire wedding day.

Summer 2008

Well I am trying to play catch up here on our blog. We have had quite an eventful summer with my family being in town for 5 weeks. They kept us hopping and we had a great time visiting with them all. Sage and Hallie had some really fun times playing with their cousins and my cousin's kids. Alicia and her kids stayed with us for two weeks before we left for a family reunion to Oregon. It was fun but tight here in our little house. There were kids everywhere you turned.
We left for the Oregon coast on July 19th (in a rental car since I crashed our car a week earlier). On our two day drive to Oregon we stopped in Twin Falls to go through the Twin Falls Temple open house. The kids were so excited to get to go into the temple for the first time. The temple was really beautiful with a lot of local touches (the state flower in the stained glass windows and a mural of twin falls).


We had a fabulous time with my family in Lincoln City, Oregon. This reunion was with my Mom's extended family and we just had such a nice time. We all stayed in one beautiful house (30 of us) and it went really smoothly. I won't go through our trip day by day but I will put on some of the highlights of the trip.


Crabbing:
My sister Zahra and my cousin Lacey bought a crab trap the first day we were there and the guys had a fun time catching crab with chicken as bait. They caught 5 crabs that were the proper size that we could keep. Pretty good for beginners. We boiled them up the next day and I hear that they tasted pretty great.



Ultimate Frisbee
I think the one of the major highlights of the trip for Jason was playing Ultimate Frisbee on the beach every morning. Our house was right by the beach and all of my cousins went down to the beach in the morning and played frisbee.



Tillamook Cheese Factory
We went on the tour of the Tillamook Cheese Factory My family is always up for anything that has to do with food and it was fun to see how they make their cheese and package it. We all bought quite a few cheeses to sample and they were all delicious.

Giant Sand Dune
In a town called Pacific City they have a beach with a huge, huge sand dune. We all climbed up it (Jason carried Hallie and Clay helped Sage). It was crazy how hard it was to climb. You would have to take 5 steps up and then sit and rest for a minute or so. Needless to say it took us a long time to climb it but once we got to the top it was really neat. And of course the best part of the climb was the reward of running down the sand dune as we left.



Horse Back Riding
A few members of my family, Jason, and I went horse back riding on the beach. It was beautiful on the beach and I was so happy with my little old grandma of a horse. She went nice and slow just like I like it.


Hike to Waterfall
We went on a hike along a beautiful wooded path. It was nice to get to see a different part of the Oregon coast other than the beach. The path wound through a thick pine forest and ended up at a waterfall. Jason stripped down to his skivies and went swimming in the river along with a couple other members of my family.





Newport Aquarium
We spent one day at the Newport Aquarium. It was my girls first time at an aquarium and they were both amazed by all the little sea creatures. The aquarium is nice because it has a lot of little aquariums where you can touch things like star fish, anemones, sea cucumbers, etc. The girls thought that it was pretty cool.
