The Bike Fairy makes an appearance

We have been telling Sage that if she was really good in Primary that the Bike Fairy might come and pay her a visit. And since her Primary teacher told us this week that Sage was very reverent in Primary we held up our end of the bargain. Sage kept asking me what the Bike Fairy looks like, when she usually comes, and how she carries the bikes to kids houses. It has been on her mind quite a bit. Tonight when Jason came home from work he came into the house and told Sage that there was something in the driveway that he thought she might like to see. Sage came out of the house and walked right up to the bike and stood there with her hands in her pockets talking to her friend Sophie who was in our driveway. It took her about 3 minutes of talking to Sophie to realize that there was a "new brand" (as Sage would say) bike right in front of her and that this bike was for her. She jumped right on and started pedaling down the driveway. She is a little cautious on her bike and tests out the brakes every minute or so. She has also already had her first wipe out. Luckily Jason kind of broke her fall. We have been very pleased with our first visit from the Bike Fairy.

The Great Egg Hunt

Sage makes a great find with a chocolate bunny lollipop

Hallie reaches for the coveted Chocolate bunny.

Jason helped the girls get their baskets all situated before the hunt began.

Here are the kids after the hunt with all of their Easter goodies.

The Easter Bunny visited our house a little later in the day this year. He came while we were at church. Sage couldn't wait to get home to see if the Easter Bunny had come. And luckily he had. It was nice and sunny outside for their hunt, although a little bit cool. Sage and Hallie looked so cute in their Easter dresses during the hunt. Hallie is not actually wearing her Easter dress in the pictures because 5 minutes into nursery today she decided it might be fun to pee all over it. Her diaper wasn't wet but her dress was soaked. She still looked darling in her substitute Easter dress. The kids came away from the hunt with lots of candy, chocolate bunnies, and Easter eggs. Hallie would only let the plastic eggs and real eggs be in her basket. She made Jason carry around the chocolate bunnies for her. Sage was the winner in the amount of goodies collected. Her basket was overflowing. We divided it all up though once we came inside so they both came out with a good amount. It was a fun hunt.

Easter Eggs

Every year since we have had Sage we can never seem to get around to dying Easter eggs until about 9:00 on Saturday night. It was the same case this year. The kids are always quite tired and in their pajamas in the pictures. They had a fun time though. Sage's favorite egg that she made was a blue "BYU" egg. Hallie kept dropping the eggs into the dye cups and by the time we were done the newspaper on the counter was saturated with multi-colored dye. Every time we pulled an egg out of the dye Hallie would point at it and say "WOW". I don't think that she could quite figure out how these white eggs were coming out different colors.

Sugar Eggs

This year is the first year that I have done our traditional sugar eggs with my girls. Luckily my Mom was here this past week so she was able to show me what to do and how to get everything ready. You have to make the flowers and eggs in advance, so I was glad to have her help since it was my first time. The kids were excited about each step of the process. They helped us pipe the frosting flowers and they played in the colored sugar when we formed the eggs. Their favorite part though was decorating the eggs. Sage went for a big impact and used every single rose on her egg. Each time she would put a flower on her egg she would say "Wow!" as if it was the most beautiful thing she had ever seen. Hallie needed a little help getting the flowers on her egg. Most of her flowers ended up in her mouth. She had just woken up from a nap (notice the great nap hair) so she wasn't so interested in the egg decorating. But she sure did like the flower eating.

Girls Trip: San Antonio

I just got back this evening from a fun fun trip to San Antonio. For the last two years my sisters, my Mom and I have gone on a trip. Just the girls, no kids (except nursing babies), no husbands allowed. This year I was in charge of the trip. I decided to pick San Antonio as our destination. It was 90 degrees on Friday when I arrived. It was a big difference in temperature considering I had left to the airport that morning in a blizzard. It was so nice and warm. I met my little sister Zahra at the airport and we took a taxi into the city. Zahra and I went out and went to an art museum. Lots of antiquities and Spanish art. It was pretty neat. Then we went to dinner at Schilo's Deli. The food was quite disappointing. We at least had a great dessert. We got a Dulce de leche Banana Split Dazzler at Haagen Das. If you haven't had one, go and get one! Friday night Zahra and I went back to the hotel and watched a movie and waited for the rest of the girls to get to the hotel. Kari arrived at 9:30 pm and Alicia, Keaton and Mom got in about 12:00 am.
It was a long night. Alicia's baby, Keaton, cried the entire night and Alicia snored when he wasn't crying.
Saturday morning we went to breakfast at Gunter Bakery. It had really yummy pastries. Then we went to Market Square. It is a fun open market with lots of booths selling Mexican crafts.

It was fun to walk around and look at all of the little booths and just be with the girls. It didn't last long though. Alicia's baby Keaton had a cold that had settled in his chest, and he had really labored breathing. So at noon Alicia and I walked across the street and took him to the Children's Emergency Room. They took us right in and started hooking him up to oxygen and doing breathing treatments. His oxygen levels were too low so they said they were going to have to admit him. We spent 5 hours in the emergency room before they were able to find him a room in the hospital. Three of those hours we were starving while Mom, Zahra, and Kari were sitting in a restaurant eating a nice Mexican lunch.

Kari stayed with Alicia at the Hospital and Mom, Zahra and I went down to the Alamo. The Alamo was interesting. It is set right in the middle of San Antonio smashed between some modern buildings and surrounded by pavement. The inside of the Alamo is just a big open room. But it was interesting to learn it's history and why the battle of the Alamo was important to Texas history.

After the Alamo we went back to the Hospital to check on Alicia, Keaton, and Kari. They had him in his room. He had this giant crib cage and he looked like a little animal looking out behind the bars.

Kari, Alicia, and I left Mom and Zahra there at the Hospital and we ran and had a quick dinner. Then most of us headed back to the hotel to go to sleep. We got to bed about midnight and I was looking forward to a goodnight sleep without a crying baby and Alicia's snoring. Well, it wasn't meant to be. At 3:00 am Alicia called and said that she was throwing up and could I come down and sit with Keaton. So I got a good three hour sleep Saturday night. I stayed up the rest of the night in the hospital listening to Alicia snore and helping hold Keaton during his breathing treatments.
At 9:00 on Sunday morning I went back to the hotel to shower and change my clothes then I was off to meet Mom, Zahra, and Kari at Mission San Jose.

Mission San Jose is an old catholic church that was build in the 1700's and was used to bring Christianity to the local people. We attended a Catholic Mariachi Mass. It was interesting with the Mariachi band playing the hymns. It kind of made you want to dance. It was a lot of standing and sitting up and down and I was so tired! It was a really neat experience though.
After we left the mission we went back downtown and walked around a little craft village that is on the river. We at street food; corn dogs, spiral fries, and the best little cinnamon doughnuts I have ever eaten. We went back to the hotel and grabbed a change of clothes for Alica and then it was back to the Hospital. Alicia, Zahra, Mom and I went back to Market Square so that Alicia could get some souvenirs for her kids and I bought some Mexican pastries. Yum. When we got back to the Hospital they said that Keaton was doing well enough to go home. We waited for about an hour before he was released and then we went out to dinner. We went to Rosario's, a Mexican restaurant that Zahra had heard about. It had mixed reviews as far as the food quality but we sure did laugh hard the entire time.
Monday morning we went to San Fernando Cathedral, another Catholic church and then walked around down by the riverwalk. We ate a late breakfast on the riverwalk and then Mom and I had to leave for the airport. It was great trip. I always love to spend time with my sisters and my Mom. They are all so amazing and fun.

Park Time

It was so nice in Moab to be able to play at the park again. Our parks in Heber still have 2-3 feet of snow on them. Hallie would not get off of this little teeter totter the whole time we were there. Sage thinks that she is one of the big kids now and wants to do things like the monkey bars, with our help of course. They had a great time.

Dead Horse Point

In Moab we drove to Dead Horse Point State Park. It is an awesome view of the Colorado river. Here are some pictures of Sage, Jason's Family and David's "Friend" Crystal.

Moab Half

We are down in Moab this weekend for the Moab Half Marathon. Don't worry neither Jason or I are running. We are down here to support David Danley who is running. It is pretty nice here. It is chilly but a lot warmer than Heber. The race went pretty well. David did great despite having had food poisoning the day before. He still took second place. Good Job Dave!

Little Artist

Sage has become quite the little artist. These are a few of Sage's latest drawings as well as her handwriting. This first picture is a drawing of Sage and her Mom. Mom has some awesome teeth. Her favorite subject to draw is her aunt Deon. She loves to draw the long hair (which she says that she will have some day) so the next time she draws a picture of Deon I will put it on the blog.

This is a card that Sage made for her friend's birthday. It is a picture of a little boy holding balloons. I thought it was a koala bear holding balloons but she tells me otherwise.

Foundation

This morning they took the forms down off of the foundation and now it is a little easier to see the shape of the house. This picture is of the front of the house. The little square shaped room is the space under the front porch and to the right of that is Sage's room with the window seat.

This is the rear of the house. The wall with the three window holes is the family room in the basement. The far wall is the theater room, which won't be finished for a very long time. It is easier to see the shape of the house now but it looks so small to me. I'm sure once it is actually built I will have a better feel for the size of the rooms and it will be just fine. Kind of scary.

Pull-up Hats

The kids came up with some pretty awesome hats this evening. They each put a pull-up (new ones of course) on their heads and ran around all night with them on. They kind of look like little aliens with their little cone heads. Does this remind anyone in Lindsey's family of something?

Foundation Forms

Today they formed the walls for our foundation. In the afternoon I took the kids up to the lot so Sage could see them pouring the concrete into the forms to make the walls. She thought that all the cement trucks and the pump truck were pretty cool. It is pretty neat to watch all that concrete pour out of that pump boom into the forms.
