This is the Place Park

It is taking me a long time to get around to posting these pictures but I guess it is better late then never. A couple of weeks ago the girls and I went down to Salt Lake to go to This is the Place park. We went with Angela, Jessica, and Kim. It was really fun, they have added a lot of new things for the kids to do there. Each of the kids got to go to the petting zoo, have a horse ride, make a pin-wheel, and take a ride on a little train. My girls thought it was pretty great.




Sage loved the horse ride but Hallie was too scared to even go near the horses.




Sage was really excited to see her best friend Madison, since we don't get to see them all that often since they moved to Salt Lake this summer. She was doubly excited when we pulled up and she discovered that she and Madison had the same shirt on. They looked so cute hanging out by this railroad crossing sign while we waited for the little train to come pick us up. We love all our friends and spending time with them. We are really lucky to have such fun people in our lives.

Our First Stitches Episode

Last Wednesday (09.03.2008) Jason took the girls to scouts with him while I went to a preschool meeting for Sage's new preschool. When I pulled up to the church to pick the kids up Sage was sitting on the back of the car crying her eyes out and all the Scout leaders were standing around looking at her. Apparently she had been running around in the church parking lot and tripped and fell, landing on her chin. Her chin looked pretty beat up, kind of like hamburger, but we just put a band-aid on it and she went off with Jason to the rest of scouts. I stopped by our friends the Webster's house and asked Wes to look at Sage's chin to see if it needed stitches. Jason dropped Sage off and Wes said that he thought we should take her down for a couple of stitches. As soon as she heard that she marched out of his house with a scowl on her face and started marching up the sidewalk to find her Dad. When I asked her where she was going she said "I'm NOT getting any stitches. I'm going to find my Dad."
Well, She did end up getting stitches. She was pretty scared about the prospect of the doctor sewing up her chin. Luckily she wanted Jason to be in the room with her so Hallie and I took a walk around the hospital during the procedure. You could hear Sage screaming and crying on the other side of the hospital (granted it is a small hospital)while they gave her the numbing shot. Jason said that as soon as they gave her the shots she was just fine. The doctor cleaned some gravel out of her chin and sewed her up. She came out of the room with a big smile on her face and telling me how brave she had been. Five stitches later her chin is looking a lot better.

Chasing Grasshoppers

The girls and I took a walk the other day and they saw tons of grasshoppers hopping in this long grass. So they went searching for them, unfortunately they all hopped away when they heard my noisy girls coming.

Scrapbooking Photos

Poor Sage, whenever I need photos to go with a particular scrapbooking paper she has to get dressed up and have a photo shoot. She wasn't too sad about having to take these photos though because I told her she didn't have to take a nap if she would help me out. So she was quite willing. When I look at these picture I just can't believe how old she is looking. She is getting so grown up.

Japanese Pajamas

We got a note to pick up a box at the post office the other day and were surprised to see that it had come all the way from Japan. It was a box from a family that Jason had baptised while he was on his mission. Jason and Sage had gone to dinner with them earlier this summer as they were here in Utah picking up their son from a mission. Anyway, inside the box were a pair of Japanese pajamas for both of our girls. They were so excited they stripped down as soon as we opened the box and put them on. They have wanted to wear them just about every night since then. Sage is especially excited about them because she says that now that she has a Japanese outfit she will be really good at Kung Fu.

A Day on the Lake

Jason and his brother Jeff had the good idea to rent a boat and go out on Deer Creek Reservoir last week. There were a million boats on the lake and the water was really choppy so about all it was good for was some tubing. Jason took both of our girls out on the tube. When he took Sage he lost his balance and fell off into the lake. We looked back a few seconds latter to see Jason floating in the water a ways back and Sage just crying her eyes out and holding on to the tube for dear life.


We quickly pulled her in and then went back to pick up Jason. By the time Sage got into the boat she had worked herself into such a upset that she had made her nose bleed and had blood running down her face. Poor little thing thought that her Dad was lost forever and that we were just going to leave him there in the lake. She got over it pretty quickly though once we picked up Jason and she saw that it was just fine.


It was Hallie's turn next and she was quite unsure of it. But we just threw her in the tube and by the time they got going she was having a great time.
It was a fun day and nice to be out on the lake with the kids. They loved it, despite a few moments of tears.

The Reception

Clay had his wedding reception at a beautiful farm in Mapleton. It was a very nice and peaceful location. There was a pond with canoes and paddle boats on it and that provided limitless entertainment for the kids.





Zahra made their wedding cake with my help. She did a beautiful job.

Here is a picture of Clay and Aria cutting the cake. It was a yummy cake. It was pistachio cake with marzipan frosting.
